'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range shot from distance, and the defender quickly converted the rebound before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory capped an extraordinary recovery given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
